SonoAnalyzer OE and Demo - version 1.5.0 released
Announcing the release of SonoAnalyzer OE (Online Edition) version 1.5.0, also available as a 30-day, limited use demo.
This update includes various small improvements in line with the SonoAnalyzer Pro series and introduces two new "Hollow" models with through holes based on the existing #2 conical and stepped shapes. Along with the previously-released exponential and user-defined, these complete the set of four cylindrical model types and replace the older models which will now be marked as deprecated.
Upgrade is recommended. Further details are shown below.
Enhancement: New "hollow" cylindrical sonotrode models
Two new models have been added, similar to the existing Conical sonotrode and Stepped #2 sonotrode. The new models allow for a central hole running through the full length. The hole diameter (constant along the length) is to be specified by the user. Permissable range is from 0 to 80% of the smallest outside diameter. With the hole diameter set to zero (the default) these new models are exactly equivalent to the earlier ones, which will be deprecated in the near future. The new models also cover a wider dimensional range than their predecessors, replacing both the standard and high-frequency versions of the original #2 models.
Enhancement: Stepped designs now support large blend radii
Earlier stepped sonotrode models (both block and cylindrical) with variable blend radius had the limitation on the maximum blend radius - not more than the radial step. So for example a stepped sonotrode with 40mm input diameter, 20mm output diameter has a 10mm radial step, and the blend radius would be limited to no more than 10mm. This is an artificial limit, however, since larger radii are possible, they simply extend further down the length. It was always possible to define the same geometry using the user-defined proflie models but the stepped models are much easier to use where appropriate.
The new hollow stepped model for OE has been modified to permit this, subject to the large radius fitting within the available sonotrode length.
Graphics improvements
Graphics routines have been updated to improve the clarity of the grid lines drawn on the 3D model view.
Manual updates
The built-in manual available on this site and in the SonoAnalyzer application (Help -> Manual) has been updated to reflect changes made to SonoAnalyzer and the new models available.
UI improvements
File load / save options have been tidied up, with the common options: Open, Save, Save As. Where a filename has been chosen (either by loading or saving) it is now shown in the program window's title bar.
Information for current SonoAnalyzer OE users:
Licenses extended: As compensation for the late arrival of SonoAnalyzer Pro, the expiry date of all OE licences purchased before July 2013 has been extended to mid 2014. After expiry clients may purchase extensions or upgrades at the discounted prices fixed at the time of purchase. Upgrading to this new version is optional, but without it the new hollow models will not be available to you. Your updated file download is shown under Files in "My account". The filename is "SonoAnalyzerOE-setup.exe". Please log into your account to download the new file. Uninstalling any / all versions prior to 1.3.x is required before installing this one. Your saved settings, including the license key, should not be affected by the removal / installation.
Information for current SonoAnalyzer Demo users:
The file download is the same as for the purchased SonoAnalyzer OE and can be downloaded and installed in the same way. Uninstalling any / all versions prior to 1.3.x is required before installing this one. Access is still restricted by the demo license. Previous demo users whose license has expired but who wish to try the new version, please email or open a support ticket to request an extension.
Information for current SonoAnalyzer RC users:
The release-candidate version SonoAnalyzer RC is no longer available, having been replaced by OE, but early-adopters who purchased it can continue to use it until the licence expiry. As compensation for the late arrival of SonoAnalyzer Pro, expiry has been extended from September 1, 2013 to mid 2014 (or the final release date of SonoAnalyzer Pro). After expiry clients may purchase extensions or upgrades at the discounted prices fixed at the time of purchase.
The license key shown under Product Keys in "My account" will still show "SonoAnalyzer RC" but all RC licenses are now exactly equivalent to OE licenses. The file download shown under Files in "My account" will still show "SonoAnalyzerRC-setup.exe" but the download link will now provide the SonoAnalyzer OE setup file as above.
