SonoAnalyzer OE and Demo - version 1.4.1 released
Announcing the release of SonoAnalyzer OE version 1.4.1 (codename "Strutt") also available as a 30-day, limited use demo.
This is a maintenance update including some minor bug-fixes and several enhancements including a new connection option using the system browser as a proxy for connections to the gateway server. It also brings the OE code-base into line with the new Pro version. For OE users who don't have problems connecting by the earlier methods, upgrade is optional. Further details are shown below.
Enhancement: New connection method. Earlier versions allowed for either a direct internet connection or a manual proxy setup, where the proxy details were entered into a form. However some users behind corporate firewalls have been unable to connect even with correct setings for their proxy server. The new method leverages the user's web browser directly, complete with all its connection settings, and so should work without any special settings. To use it click the "Connection Settings" button on the license activation dialog (or choose Options -> Connection settings from the menu) to open a new Internet Connection dialog window. Then click the "Use system browser" radio button and Save.
Enhancement: As introduced in Pro beta 1.4.0, the "top" length of a stepped sonotrode (circular or rectangular section, Online FEA models) can now be specified as a percentage of total length or as a fixed length, as required.
Enhancement: As introduced in Pro beta 1.4.0, the list of vibration modes on the Results tab now includes the resonant frequencies as well as the mode name. When more descriptive names (eg. "Axial 1") are applied to some modes identified at the analysis server (not yet implemented but coming shortly), SonoAnalyzer will also select those preferentially on completion of an analysis - avoiding the need to search through the list of modes to find the preferred axial mode.
Bug-fix: On the model selection tab in earlier versions of OE / Pro, when the category containing the curent analysis is closed, the program would lock onto the current selection, making changing to a different model impossible without closing and restarting the program. This has now been fixed.
Information for current SonoAnalyzer OE users:
Upgrading to the new version is optional - unless you have experienced problems with the current version you may prefer to continue using version 1.3.x or try the new Pro beta version 1.4.1. Your updated file download is shown under Files in "My account". The filename is "SonoAnalyzerOE-setup.exe". Please log into your account to download the new file. Uninstalling any / all versions prior to 1.3.x is required before installing this one. Your saved settings, including the license key, should not be affected by the removal / installation.
Information for current SonoAnalyzer Demo users:
The file download is the same as for the purchased SonoAnalyzer OE and can be downloaded and installed in the same way. Uninstalling any / all versions prior to 1.3.x is required before installing this one. Access is still restricted by the demo license. Previous demo users whose license has expired but who wish to try the new version, please email or open a support ticket to request an extension.
Information for current SonoAnalyzer RC users:
The release-candidate version SonoAnalyzer RC is no longer available, having been replaced by OE, but early-adopters who purchased it can continue to use it until the licence expiry. As compensation for the late arrival of SonoAnalyzer Pro, expiry has been extended from September 1, 2013 to end 2013 (or the final release date of SonoAnalyzer Pro). After expiry clients may purchase extensions or upgrades at the discounted prices fixed at the time of purchase.
The license key shown under Product Keys in "My account" will still show "SonoAnalyzer RC" but all RC licenses are now exactly equivalent to OE licenses. The file download shown under Files in "My account" will still show "SonoAnalyzerRC-setup.exe" but the download link will now provide the SonoAnalyzer OE setup file as above.
